Telangana doctors angry with split delay

The officials met health minister Dr Laxma Reddy twice in the past week and urged him to expedite the process.

Hyderabad: Health officials and government doctors are upset that the medical and health department has not completed the work of dividing doctors between AP and TS, even two years after bifurcation.

The officials met health minister Dr Laxma Reddy twice in the past week and urged him to expedite the process. A senior officer said, “The government doctors created a lot of noise when the temporary list was out. That has proven to be a major setback and now all the officers are checking and re-checking data before submitting documents. This is leading to inordinate delay”.

There are a total of 10,000 employees in the department. Another officer explained, “The problem is that most of the senior positions in Telangana are held by officials or doctors from Andhra Pradesh. If the option is given to them to stay back in TS it would be very wrong. TS staff will not get to occupy senior position in hospitals or in health department for the next 20 years.”
