Pinarayi Vijayan comes down on DGP
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM politburo Pinarayi Vijayan has slammed the police top brass for attempting to divert the investigations into the brutal murder of dalit Law student Jisha in Perambavoor. He said the police was trying to derail the probe to save the culprits.
“The DGP has not performed his duties properly which was clearly evident from the manner in which the entire case was handled,” he said. Pinarayi said the police tried to divert the attention of the people from the heinous crime. The body was cremated in a haste to destroy evidence and the police had taken the lead in doing such activities.
He said the post mortem examination and other medical examinations were carried out without following the set procedures in such cases. Apart from intensifying the probe, there is also an urgent need for a detailed probe into the manner in which attempts were being made to hush up the case and also into the major lapses on the part of the police in handling the case.
Pinarayi also said that the investigations should also bring to light the
powers that had intervened in the case at different levels with the objective of derailing the probe. He added saying that the people have the right to know
about the hand behind such devious actions.
