Cop on duty collapses due to brain stroke

HYDERABAD: A 40-year-old police constable deployed as part of the police helpline response team collapsed due to a brain stroke while responding to a nuisance case in Jadcherla. He was shifted to a Hyderabad hospital for treatment.

The police identified the cop as Chander Naik, who was part of the Dial 100 team. He was responding to a call about a nuisance case in Ashoknagar when the incident took place.

The caller, who was online with the cop, redialled the helpline and informed the responder about the incident. Station officer Ramesh Babu went to the spot and shifted Naik to a local hospital, which referred him to a Hyderabad hospital.

The police said that Naik was undergoing treatment and was still unconscious.
