Set up new probe team: Sudheeran
Thiruvananthapuram: KPCC president V.M. Sudheeran has written to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan demanding the government appoint a committee comprising members of the forensic department of medical colleges on the alleged lapses in the post-mortem conducted on Jishnu Pranoy, a student of Nehru College of Engineering, Pambadi who committed suicide.
This was because Mahija, the mother of Jishnu, had raised serious doubts about the post-mortem. Moreover, there were also some doubts in the minds of the general public about the report, Sudheeran said in the letter.
On January 18, the KPCC had submitted a letter to Health Minister K.K. Shailaja.
Mr Sudheeran also wanted the Chief Minister to take action against police officials who first inquired into the case in the background of Krishnadas, the first accused getting anticipatory bail.
The lapses and dereliction of duty by officials had resulted in such a situation, he wrote. In such circumstances, these officials should be suspended and an independent inquiry conducted to ascertain whether these officials had destroyed evidence to help the accused, Sudheeran added.
Also, Mr Sudheeran pointed out that the prime accused, who got bail, had the wherewithal to interfere in the case by influencing officials and witnesses.
