Hyderabad: A 27-year-old techie working for a BPO was killed in an accident at Raidurgam on Saturday. Police said the incident occurred when a container truck hit the bike of A. Umakanth.
He was wearing a helmet when the incident occurred, police said. Umakanth, hailing from Ameenpur, was a software engineer in Sutherland Global Services located in Lanco Hills.
On Saturday night he was going towards Lanco Hills on his bike on the Miyapur-Gachibowli road. When he reached Gachibowli X roads, a speeding container truck hit his bike from behind and he fell on the ground.
“Although he was wearing a helmet, the truck ran over his head killing him on the spot,” Raidurgam SI G. Rajashekar said. Based on a complaint from his father A.V. Subramanyam, a case of accidental death was registered and the body was handed over to the family after post-mortem.
