Send ward boys to recce builders.

Hyderabad: Amid allegations that some corporators were blackmailing builders, a complaint was lodged with the Uppal police by one Raghupathi Reddy on Sunday who alleged that a staffer from the GHMC’s Uppal circle was found taking photographs of his under-construction building on Saturday.

When questioned, the employee, identified as Venu, a ward boy, said he had been deputed by the local corporator’s husband to take photographs of illegal structures.

Venu was taken into custody by the Dial 100 mobile patrol team after Mr Reddy contacted them. Uppal inspector Y. Narsimha Reddy said that no case has been registered. “During our investigation, we found that he just took photographs. No intention of blackmail could be found behind it,” the inspector said.

GHMC’s Uppal circle deputy commissioner K. Vijay Krishna said that the inspector had called him on Saturday night and explained the matter. “I asked police to take all the necessary action as per procedure. We have deputed ward boys under outsourcing for all the four ward offices under our jurisdiction. They are meant to take care of offices not go on field visits,” he said.
