CPM, CPI tussle over probe by revenue secretary
Thiruvananthapuram: The war within the LDF intensified on Sunday with CPM leader E. P. Jayarajan criticising the CPI for initiating a probe by the revenue secretary into the possible violation of rules by the Kerala Law Academy Law College saying all parties have the responsibility to keep the coalition dharma. Close on the heels of Mr Jayarajan’s comment, cooperative minister Kadakampally Surendran came out against the strike branding it as BJP-sponsored.
"Their demand is unjustifiable. They don’t have the support of the CPM and the opinion expressed by senior CPM leader V. S. Achuthanandan on the land issue is entirely personal," Mr Jayarajan said. He took to the Facebook to attack the CPI while reacting to the statement by revenue minister E. Chandrasekharan that probe would continue over the land row.
He said it was not right on the part of any minister to order an investigation on his own based on any complaint received. "The issue is linked to education, revenue, law and SC/ST departments. In such circumstances, what would be the condition if each department orders a probe?" he said. He pointed out that as a coalition government, different ministers may have a different opinion, but it was for the chief minister to take a final decision.
