No remorse to Naidu despite 11 deaths: Ambati

VIJAYAWADA: Irrigation minister Ambati Rambabu accused Telugu Desam chief N. Chandrababu Naidu of showing no remorse despite the 11 deaths due to stampedes at the opposition leader’s gatherings in Kandukur and Guntur.

Addressing media here on Friday, he charged that Naidu had remained indifferent when there had been stampede deaths during Godavari Pushkaraalu too. The minister questioned Jana Sena president Pawan Kalyan for remaining mute about the eight deaths in Kandukur and three in Guntur.

“Pawan Kalyan has not only not said anything about the deaths at Naidu’s meetings, he has gone on to question the G.O. state government has issued to regulate public gatherings to safeguard people,” he pointed out.

Rambabu underlined that Pawan Kalyan is only trying to protect the interests of TD and its leader Naidu. He defended Odarpu Yatras of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, saying they had been organised in a systematic manner, while the TD chief’s rallies are chaotic and disorganised, which has resulted in stampedes.

The minister said Naidu is now frequently visiting Kuppam fearing his defeat, as he has no achievements to talk about in the constituency. It is the YSRC government that has made Kuppam a revenue division and developed a branch canal for meeting the drinking and irrigation needs of people in the area, he stated.

Rambabu observed that YSRC government having advisors is not a new system. Governments have appointed advisors in the past too, he said.
