CM Jagan, Gadkari to open Benz Flyover-2 on December 10
Vijayawada: AP Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and union road transport minister Nitin Gadkari will jointly inaugurate the much-awaited Benz Flyover-2 in Vijayawada on December 10.
The announcement came after principal secretary (Transport) M.T. Krishna Babu, Krishna collector J. Nivas, MLC and CM programmes’ coordinator Talasila Raghuram, along with other officials, inspected the second Benz flyover on Saturday. The flyover had been subject to trail runs throughout November.
Collector Nivas said the 2.5-km Benz Flyover-2 from Screw Bridge Junction to Novotel Hotel has cost ₹ 88 crore. It will enable vehicles proceed on to Kolkata-Visakhapatnam National Highway 16 without stopping at Benz Circle. This will help resolve the daily traffic snarls at Benz Circle, Nirmala Convent Centre and Ramesh Hospital Junction.
The second Benz flyover will also help majority VVIPs, VIPs and officials reach Vijayawada Airport at Gannavaram smoothly. Traffic will not have to be halted during VIP movements.
Vijayawada municipal commissioner V. Prasanna Venkatesh, joint collector Dr. K Madhavilatha, sub-collector G.S.S. Pravinchand, DRO M. Venkateswarlu and DCP V. Harshwardhan Raju were among those who checked out the flyover on Saturday.
