Hyderabad: The latest selfie spot in the city, the Love Hyderabad typographic structure, continues to be vandalised though the government had said that it was posting two guards at the structure.
Vandals have been scribbling love messages on the structure. Besides this, there is poor maintenance of the place by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. Tourists who clamber on the structure to take selfies leave ugly footprints on it.
Central Zone DCP Joel Davis said that they were not providing any security to the spot. “Our lake police teams monitor it during their routine patrolling,” he said. Going by experience, however, that is not keeping away vandals in the guise of tourists.
GHMC commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy told this newspaper that the issue had come to the civic body’s notice and it was planning to provide security by holding a meeting with traffic and law and order police.
“Due to the rush at the Love Hyderabad structure, the general traffic is facing obstructions. We shall rectify the problem as soon as possible,” Mr Janardhan Reddy said.
