Vizag Spandana Receives Many Complaints From Senior Citizens
Visakhapatnam: Several senior citizens here complain that their children/families are not supporting them. Seven such cases have been registered in the last two years.
In the Spandana programme held here the other day, while the larger number of complaints was on land-related issues, this was followed by the second largest number of complaints from senior citizens.
Senior citizens complain that their children are not treating them with respect, they are harassing them mentally, and there is even physical torture in relation to property rights etc.
Senior citizens say their children love them only for the property. “Once property rights are transferred to them, they neglect parents and maltreat them.”
Such complaints are increasing day by day and it has been decided that the city police commissioner would personally monitor these cases.
City police commissioner Ravi Shankar advised the families, "Care for the aged. The love and affection you shower on your parents will come to you from your children in future."
The police commissioner's office said appropriate legal action has been taken against the errant. Vizag Senior citizens facing such problems may contact the police by WhatsApp number 9493336633, police helpline 112 or the National Senior Citizens Helpline number 14567.
