Safeguard govt school premises in Uttara Kannada district, minister tells officials
Karwar: Minister for Fisheries, Ports and Inland Water Transport and Uttara Kannada District in-charge, Mankal S Vaidya has directed the education department officials, emphasizing the need to safeguard the government school premises in the district that have been closed due to insufficient student enrollment.
This directive aims to prevent private parties from encroaching upon these vacant school properties.
The Minister made this announcement during the quarterly KDP meeting held in Karwar last Saturday.
Reports from officials indicate that 74 schools in the Karwar Circle and 87 schools in the Sirsi Circle have ceased operations due to a lack of student enrollment.
Minister Vaidya emphasized the importance of properly fencing these properties, especially those without a compound, to prevent unauthorized occupation.
He further suggested repurposing the closed schools for government offices facing space constraints.
Concentrating on healthcare in the district, Minister Vaidya stressed the need for enhanced public service at Karwar Medical College, urging prompt responses to patient concerns and seamless coordination among medical professionals.
Vaidya directed the officials to properly implement the government projects.
He asked Hubballi Electricity Supply Company (HESCOM) to swiftly implement the Gruha Jyothi scheme across the district by November.
While lauding the district's 88 percent success rate under the Grihalakshmi scheme, Minister Vaidya called for a concerted effort to achieve a full 100 percent success rate.
He urged the timely disbursement of funds to all registered beneficiaries.
MLA Satish Sail highlighted the importance of establishing help desks in all taluk offices to facilitate the resolution of issues faced by beneficiaries seeking benefits from various government schemes.
