Parallel probes on cops' misconduct: Loknath Behera

Any actions against the police officials would be decided on the basis of the inquiry report.

Thiruvananthapuram: State police chief Loknath Behera said that parallel probes were being conducted into the alleged misconduct by the police in handling the rape allegations as well as the alleged gangrape at Wadakancherry. “While the probe into the misconduct part could be completed soon, the probe into the alleged gangrape may take some time,” the state police chief told a section of the media here on Thursday.

He also added that the Thrissur-range IG M R Ajithkumar, who had been entrusted with the probe, was asked to submit the report on the misconduct by police officials at the earliest. Any actions against the police officials would be decided on the basis of the inquiry report. Mr. Behera said that the probe into the alleged gangrape would be a challenging task as the alleged incident took place more than two years ago. “But we are hopeful of solving the case as nothing is impossible. The investigation has to begin from scratch. The investigation team was directed to conduct a scientific investigation,” he said.
