K Radhakrishnan reveals Wadakancherry gang rape victim's name
Thiruvananthapuram: CPM district secretary K Radhakrishnan on Friday revealed the name of Wadakancherry gang rape victim before mediapersons violating section 228 A IPC and Supreme Court guidelines on protecting identity of such victims. At a press conference to announce the decision of district secretariat, Radhakrishnan who is a former minister and speaker, not only revealed the name of the victim but also asked if the name of the accused could be disclosed then why can’t the identity of the other party's as well.
According to Section 228 A of IPC whoever prints or publishes the name or any matter which may make known the identity of any person against whom an offence under section 376, section 376A, section 376B, section 376C or section 376D is alleged or found to have been committed, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to two years and shall also be liable to fine. Meanwhile, BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan has demanded action against Radhakrishnan for revealing the identity of the victim.
