Best Health Care in Siddipet Now a Reality, Says Harish Rao

1,000 bed govt hospital inaugurated by Harish

Hyderabad: Finance minister T. Harish Rao on Thursday accused the BJP of indulging in ‘backdoor politics’ and using the Governor to do its dirty work.

Addressing a public meeting in Medak, Harish Rao was referring to the recent rejection by Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan of two BRS nominees for MLC seats — Kurra Satyanarayana, who belongs to the downtrodden Erukala community, and Dr Dasoju Sravan who belongs to the Viswa Brahmin community.

“It is as if the BJP, acting through the Governor, was worried that if she accepted the nominations, then the two communities will support the BRS,” Harish Rao said.

Harish Rao was speaking after inaugurating an empowerment scheme for the Erukala community in Medak. He said as part of the plans to uplift the community, the government will provide land for Erukala societies, construct slaughter houses, and provide transport facilities and train them to conduct business online.

“For someone to rise up the ranks from this community and become an MLA is a tough task and hence Satyanarayana was nominated as an MLC but this was rejected by the Governor as the BJP was worried that the community would support the BRS,” he said.

Earlier, Harish Rao inaugurated a 1,000-bed hospital at Siddipet, his constituency, and said: “People of Siddipet will no longer have to rush to other cities for the best health care. All services are available at the 1,000-bed hospital,” he said.

“Ten years ago, we had a 100 bed-hospital, today we have a 1,000 bed hospital. This would not have been possible unless Telangana was formed, and KCR did not become the Chief Minister,” Harish Rao said. “Earlier we got water from the Godavari, the other day a train, and now this hospital. I am truly happy.”

Harish Rao said it would take a month or two for all services and facilities to stabilise. Harish Rao said it was not just enough to have a government medical college and a hospital but also an ecosystem that will ensure all support services are available.

“As part of these efforts, we started a nursing college in Siddipet with a 100 student annual intake. Similarly, we have started 4-year paramedical courses that will train technicians, along with a BPharmacy college, along with offering diplomas to compounders,” he said.

Harish Rao said the hospital will offer 24x7 service with a 280 doctors, who will be joined by 150 MBBS students who will intern at the hospital after completing their basic degree.

Harish Rao said it was a pleasure to meet with medical students during the inauguration and discover that students from Delhi, Rajashtan, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra and other states had picked Siddipet Government Medical College as their first choice.
