Kerala police may get report on medico Shamna Tasnim's death today
KOCHI: The final medical panel report on alleged medical negligence in the death of medico Shamna Tasnim of Ernakulam Government Medical College is set to be submitted to the City Police Commissioner on Wednesday. “One specialist invited on the panel has to sign on the annexure prepared by him which he said he will do on Wednesday. If that happens, I am planning to submit to the police commissioner tomorrow itself,” Dr Kuttappan told DC on Tuesday.
He said that the panel held a second sitting on Monday too apart from the one held on September 26 and the two specialists – a cardiologist and an anesthetist – invited on the panel has prepared two annexure apart from the main report which compiled the opinion of the three main members on the panel and the specialists. “The final report is ready and the three members on the panel, the DMO, the forensic surgeon and the government pleader and one specialist have signed on the papers,” Dr Kuttappan said.
It is interesting to note that the DMO who had once said that the only sitting of the panel was over on September 26, conceded on Tuesday that another meeting had taken place on Monday. The proceedings of the medical panel is already shrouded in mystery amid reports that tremendous pressure is on to state that medical negligence has not happened in the case while one member of the panel is dead against concluding that way. When asked whether the committee has come out with a unanimous recommendation, the DMO said that could not be divulged. He also said that there was no plan to go for another expert opinion on the subject.
