Wild Bear creates panic in Mahanandi

Kurnool: The intrusion of a wild bear into residential areas in and around Mahanandi temple in Nandyal district has led to anxiety among the local people and devotees.

In the past 48 hours, the bear was spotted twice within the temple premises as it roamed in search of food.

It was sighted near the Employees’ Colony On Sunday late evening and spotted near Eswar Nagar on Friday night.

The forest officials initiated a search operation to safely relocating the wild animal to deep forest areas of Nallamala forest.

Deputy forest range officer Hymavathi said that 10 staff members have been deputed to capture the wild bear and advised local people not panic about the movement of the bear. She said they have taken all precautionary measures and cautioned people not to roam during nights. She also advised them to be in groups if they need to move out of the temple or accommodation places.
