Kattangur SI sentenced to three-month jail for violating court's order

Hyderabad: Justice K. Lakshman of the Telangana High Court sentenced Kattangur sub-inspector Dachepally Vijay Kumar to three months imprisonment and a fine of Rs 2,000 for violating an order of the court.

The judge pronounced the order in a contempt case filed by Dasari Yadagir and Dasari Srinu complaining that the Kattangur police station house officer and sub-inspector were interfering with their agricultural operations and peaceful possession of the farm land of two acres and 12 guntas in Survey No. 902 of Eduluru village, Kattangur mandal, Nalgonda district.

It was brought to the notice of the court that there were disputes with regard to the land and civil suits were filed by Nagulapati Ramulu and his wife, seeking perpetual injunction against the petitioner which were dismissed, and the same was upheld by the High Court.

The petitioner alleged that the SI, in collusion with Ramulu, threatened him over a phone call, which was recorded, and addressed a letter to the Kattangur tahsildar to conduct a survey of the land on the ground that there was a dispute between the petitioners and Ramulu with regard to the subject land, which is likely to be the result of a breach of peace and tranquility.

The judge recorded that there was no denial with regard to the conversation between the petitioner and the respondent in the counter as well as in the additional counter. The court also recorded that the petitioner was threatened and had thus willfully violated the interim orders of July 2021.

Justice Lakshman said that the respondent “has deliberately violated the interim orders by interfering with the agricultural operations being carried out by the petitioners herein”. The judge also recorded that the circle inspector of Shaligouraram circle under which the contemnor functions instead of supervising the investigation.

“He remained as a mute spectator and allowed respondent contemnor to commit the aforesaid irregularities”, the judge said and accordingly warned the CI against repeating such things.
