AIG to pick bill for treating Sanghavi

HYDERABAD: The condition of 25-year-old homoeopathy doctor G. Sanghavi, who sustained serious injuries in a brutal physical attack, is critical, said doctors after she was admitted in AIG Hospitals on Sunday.

Dr D. Nageshwar Reddy, chairman, AIG Hospitals, said in a statement on Monday “The moment she was brought in, our trauma care team swung into action with a team of neurosurgeons, a reconstructive surgeon, orthopedics, and emergency physicians. There were multiple stab wounds, including facial cuts. Our plastic surgeon did the facial sutures and made sure that there would be no disfiguration at all.”

The main concern was the injury in Sanghavi’s spinal cord near the cervical area as a result of the brutal assault, which had affected major nerves and she could be rendered immobile for the rest of her life.

“Our team of neurosurgeons stabilised her and will be performing surgery soon. Her recovery is going to be a long road ahead but we are there with her”, said Dr Reddy.

He added that considering the economic background of Sanghavi, the hospital would take care of her medical expenses on humanitarian grounds.
