Panwar was ambushed, beaten up and stabbed to death by the relatives of his wife, whom he married last year against her family’s wishes

Hyderabad: The Shahinayatgunj police have filed a chargesheet in the murder of 20-year-old Neeraj Panwar, who was killed by a group of men from his wife’s family in Begum Bazaar on May 20. The trial is expected to commence soon.

Shahiniyatgunj station house officer Y. Ajay Kumar said that the court has admitted the chargesheet.

Panwar was ambushed, beaten up and stabbed to death by the relatives of his wife, whom he married last year against her family’s wishes. Police arrested nine persons, including a juvenile boy, the next day.

The incident occurred at around 7.30 pm near the fish market in Begum Bazaar, in the presence of his father Rajendra Panwar and other eyewitnesses. They were travelling on a two-wheeler to Mirchi market, when the assailants on two bikes stopped them and attacked Neeraj with knives. The accused were identified as Abhinandan Yadav (26), K. Vijay Yadav (22), K. Sanjay Yadav (25), B. Rohith Yadav, Mahesh Aheer Yadav (21) and a juvenile boy.

Neeraj had married Sanjana in April 2021 and was residing at his grandmother’s residence in Falaknuma, fearing attacks from her family. Her cousins were enraged seeing him around in Begum Bazaar and plotted to kill him. Vijay Yadav and Sanjay Yadav had revealed during their police custody that Sanjana was engaged to one of their friends but had broken the engagement to marry Neeraj without mentioning anything to her parents.
