HYDERABAD: The Birla Planetarium observed the ‘Zero Shadow Day’ where one minute at 12.20 pm no shadow was observed, on Thursday.

On ‘Zero Shadow Day’, the Sun at the zenith does not cast a shadow of an object on Earth. This happens twice in a year for locations between the tropics of Capricorn and Cancer, said a Birla Planetarium official.

"On the afternoon of August 3, the Sun was perfectly overhead and thus no shadow of any object was seen. For Hyderabad the dates for Zero Shadow Day are May 9 and August 3," the official said.
