Political killings: RSS demands judicial probe

The \"unionism\" of Marxists perpetuated even in the police department and did not allow free and fair investigation.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The RSS has demanded a judicial probe into “political killings”, alleging that the CPM intimidation was aimed at checking RSS expanding base in the state. RSS joint general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale said an “independent judicial inquiry” should be carried out into the killings as there was a breakdown of law and order machinery. The RSS/BJP lost 14 members in CPM violence in Kerala during the past 13 months, he alleged.

“Kerala government should fulfil its constitutional responsibilities. There should be a judicial inquiry by either a judge of High court or the Supreme Court into murders of RSS workers,” Mr Hosabale told reporters in New Delhi. “Our workers are targeted as more common and poor people are joining RSS, which does not go well with the ruling CPM,” he alleged.

Attacking Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, RSS joint general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale alleged that Mr Vijayan, hailing from the epicentre of political violence in Kannur, "was an accused in one of such political murders (decades ago)". On the need for imposing the President's rule, he said the people felt so as the violence was "state-sponsored". The "unionism" of Marxists perpetuated even in the police department and did not allow free and fair investigation.

Meanwhile, CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said in Thiruvananthapuram that during the past one year 13 party workers were killed allegedly by BJP-RSS. During the Chandy tenure, the CPM had lost 24 workers and there was no demand from RSS to impose President’s rule in the state. He said since 1980, the CPM had lost 250 party workers, mostly in attacks by RSS gangs.
