Hyderabad: South Zone Additional DCP K. Babu Rao’s wife K. Vedasri on Thursday filed a petition before a city court requesting the court to direct her husband to accept her into conjugal life, failing which pay the maintenance for herself and for her children.

Mr Babu Rao denied the allegations and said that she left home leaving the children nearly 20 years ago and never returned despite many requests.

Ms Vedasri in her petition stated that since the time of their marriage in 1983, her husband Baburao harassed her mentally and physically saying that she was not beautiful.

But she stayed with him and gave birth to three daughters and after giving birth to a son in 1994, he sent her to her parents’ house and told her not to return to him.

“But with the intervention of Ms Tayyaba Tasn-eem, a social worker, he allowed me to stay at his house but later he started having an illegal affair with Tayyaba and started neglecting her and her children.” Ms Vedasri stated in her petition.
Despite intervention of elders from the family, there was no change in his attitude and he maintained the relation with Tayyaba.

Unable to maintain her children and meet her daily needs, she filed a petition with the family court at Purana Haveli requesting the court to direct her husband for restitution of her rights and accept her again as his wife or if he is not willing then direct him to divorce as per the law.

Mr Babu Rao said that he is taking care of his children and even performed the marriage of their elder daughter and is now preparing for the second daughter’s marriage.

“She herself had left me after the birth of our son 20 years ago. If I was not taking care of her or harassing her, what has she doing for the past 20 years? Why was she quiet all these days and who is taking care of her and why she suddenly remembered all these issues?” Mr Babu Rao asked. He said that she is doing all this to harass him psychologically and make some money.

“My children also requ-ested her to come back but she did not change. She was staying separately all these years. After finishing everything, if she came back to me. We cannot accept her now. But we are ready to help her financially.” he added.
