Ex-MP K Sudhakaran's peacemaking' bid goes awry

The student had earlier filed a complaint against P. K. Krishnadas, chairman of Nehru Group, for subjecting him to severe torture.

Palakkad: Senior Congress leader and former Kannur MP K. Sudhakaran was on Tuesday night detained by DYFI workers when he arrived in Cherpulassery to hold ‘conciliatory’ talks with a former student of Nehru Law Academy, run by Nehru Group of Institutions. The student had earlier filed a complaint against P. K. Krishnadas, chairman of Nehru Group, for subjecting him to severe torture. DYFI workers alleged that Mr Sudhakaran, Mr Kirshnakumar, brother of Mr Krishnadas and a local BJP leader invited the student and his relatives for talks over the police complaint against Mr Krishnadas and other staff of Nehru Group.

The student and his relatives reportedly did not show any interest in holding talks and walked out of the house where they were supposed to meet. Earlier, the police had arrested and remanded Mr Krishnadas and other officials of Nehru Group in the case but they later obtained bail from the high court. The police later intervened and released Mr Sudhakaran.
