CPI reviews organisational issues in Kerala
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The two-day CPI state executive meeting began here on Tuesday to discuss organisational issues. On the first day, organisational matters related to Ernakulam and Thrissur districts were taken up for discussion. The meeting will discuss Wayanad on Wednesday. The committee reviewed the political situation in the state including the developments that had taken place in recent days. Last executive meeting had taken the decision to boycott the meeting convened by chief minister to discuss Munnar issue. The executive had directed former deputy speaker C A Kurien and Idukki district assistant secretary to keep off the meeting.
The party had taken a tough stand as it felt that CPM leadership in Idduki had planned the meeting to protect encroachers in the district. Besides, they had also raised demands to shift Devikulam sub collector Sriram Venkataraman. The issue is likely to be discussed in detail on Wednesday. Besides, the party is also at loggerheads with the government on the Puthuvype agitation. The party had openly opposed the police highhandedness against the agitators in Puthuvype and Kochi ahead of prime minister’s visit. The CPI will discuss the strategy to be adopted on the contemporary issues including mass agitations and encroachments taking place in the state.
