Hyderabad: Eamcet rankers have no clue on colleges
Hyderabad: Eamcet rankers and their parents in the state’s 10 districts had a tense time in the last few days. Though the web options to choose colleges and courses are set to open on Tuesday, they had no clue about the colleges and courses on offer until Monday evening.
The list of affiliated colleges and available courses should have been put up in public domain but was delayed due to the dual inspections by JNTU-Hyderabad and the Vigilance department.
Over the last few days, officials examined both reports and prepared a list with 158 colleges being granted permission for intake of B.Tech first-year students for 2016-17. The announcement was made late on Sunday.
The names of engineering colleges were not declared at the time for reasons unknown. Now the students and parents would be left with little time to decide on their options.
The parent of a ranker said, “The government should have completed the inspection much earlier and given permission to colleges that are fit to function. The list should have been released earlier. We have no idea which college got affiliation and what courses are available there.”
Even the GO for the new fee structure was not released until Monday evening. In all, 79,705 seats will be on offer this year in 158 colleges, a huge drop from last year when nearly 1.2 lakh seats were available.
Many colleges were denied permission for core branches like Mechanical and Civil Engineering for lack of infrastructure.
