Chaos in Kozhikode Corporation over Motion in Jisha murder case
KOZHIKODE: A motion congratulating Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the special investigation team of Kerala police for capturing the suspect in Jisha murder case led to chaos in Kozhikode Municipal Corporation council meeting on Monday. The Opposition UDF and BJP termed the motion as politically motivated as it ignored the efforts of the previous administration.
It was moved by Eranhipalam councillor T.C. Bijuraj. However, UDF member P.M. Suresh Babu said he was not supporting it as the investigation was not over and doubts remained. BJP leaders Nambidi Narayanan and N. Satheesh Kumar it was not needed at this stage, and the LDF member should withdraw it. The motion passed after voting 39 -24.
The agreement breach by a builder in the Kalluthankadavu housing colony also created verbal clashes between UDF and the LDF councillors. Despite the council unanimously agreeing that the action by the private party was not acceptable, the vague reply given by public works standing panel chair M.C. Anil Kumar irked the Opposition.
He also made the mayor red-faced ignoring his repeated rulings to stop talking things outside the subject. It decided to prepare a comprehensive master plan for schools and also to strengthen night squad to catch people littering public places.
