Human rights body acted alone

Inquiries established the role of police personnel and the Human Rights Commission has ordered the police commissioner to inquire.

Hyderabad: The State Human Rights Commission took suo moto cognisance of the death of an unidentified man dumped by the police 20 km in the city outskirts, and called for a report from Rachakonda police commissioner.

Though a case of suspicious death has been registered and a probe is on, inquiries revealed that cops had taken him into custody, instead of admitting him to a hospital for medical assistance or handing him over to a care home.

They had pushed him into a vehicle, drove away from the spot and dumped him in an isolated location.

Inquiries established the role of police personnel and the Human Rights Commission has ordered the police commissioner to inquire and submit a report by June 18.
