Hyderabad: The scheduled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the Secunderabad Railway Station on Saturday, to lay the foundation stone of a new railway station building and flag off a second Vande Bharat Express, is generating a buzz and intrigue in the city.

The modernisation of the Secunderabad Railway station is scheduled to be completed by October 2025, at Rs 700 crore. It will have modern facilities, including electronic signboards on all platforms.

Meanwhile, officials said that the second Vande Bharat train for the city will move between Secunderabad and Tirupati.

Ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit, the Special Protection Group (SPG)’s Inspector General and Deputy Inspector General visited the station on Wednesday to review security arrangements.

The Railway Protection Force will be deploying more than 200 personnel, while an additional force is already deployed at the station, to safeguard the new set of Vande Bharat trains that arrived here from the factory.

Railways officials said that once completed, the Secunderabad Railway Station will be a model station, with modern passenger amenities, modern architecture, the latest technology and comfortable facilities for passengers. The first phase will be completed in 16 months, the second phase in the next 12 months and the third phase in the last eight months.
