Kozhikode: Summer camps to keep children away from boredom
KOZHIKODE: Various organisations and NGOs have come forward to organise summer and drama camps apart from several activities which children would love. As a result of this, the summer vacations are expected to be less boring for children. These camps are drawing the attention of children who are wasting time on mobile phones and computers. The children who like to play, imbibe and enjoy can make use of these camps. ‘Venal Mazha’, a children’s festival organised by Balavedi Club in connection with the 65th anniversary of Yuvasahithee Samajam will be held from April 3 to May 15 at Yuvasahithee hall, Francis Road.
The camp mainly targets children in the age group of 4 to 15. The activities planned include games, writing workshops, film screening and others. Each of these sessions is named differently, Kalippattam, Kilukkampetti, Sargavedhi, Kaliyarang etc. The camp is also coming up with a variety of new tasks like magic using waste materials, kite flying competitions, etc. Another summer camp called ‘Mannappam’, organised by Sadbhavana World School will be held from April 6 to 10. The chance for participating in the camp will be for the first 50 children who register their names.
A drama camp 'Manjadikkuru' by Red Youngs, Vellimadukunnu is to be conducted from April 24 to 30. Sixty children from various districts of Kerala will participate in the camp. Artistes from drama, film, music and other areas will also attend the event. Yoga, entertainment, knowledge, nature studies and other interesting aspects will be explored during the camp. Another small summer camp is in progress at University of Calicut from Monday which comprises children below 14 years. The camp has various training sessions for two hours in the morning. It is going well with a good participation from kids.
