Oommen Chandy mulls legal action against Saritha Nair

Chandy said he had been facing allegations by Saritha for the last three years.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy says financial interests were behind the letter of solar scam accused Saritha S Nair, containing sexual abuse allegations against the CM. He said her allegations had been aimed at tarnishing the UDF Government politically. While talking to reporters here he said he was thinking of taking legal action against Saritha.

Chandy said he had been facing allegations by Saritha for the last three years. He said that since there was no deficit in his government to point fingers at, hence allegations were being made against him personally. He felt that if there is one percent truth in the allegations, then it was a serious thing.

“Probably no other leader would have faced these many allegations. It was during the by-elections that the allegations were first hurled at me. In fact during the Aruvikkara by-election, the people gave the mandate in favour of the Government. What I can say is that allegations and reality are entirely different”, said Chandy.

He also informed that when he had deposed before Judge K. S. Sivarajan who heads the solar commission, her counsel did not ask anything about it.

“If UDF has a setback in the Assembly elections, who gains from it? It is the same people who are behind the new allegations. It was the same Saritha who had earlier said that I was like a father figure to her. KC (B) chairman R. Balakrishna Pillai had said that my name was not mentioned in the letter”, added Chandy. CM signed off by saying that the latest allegation would not weaken the chances of the UDF in the Assembly elections.
