TTD commences Parakamani activities at new facility in Tirumala

TIRUPATI: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) commenced the Parakamani activities, including counting and accounting of the offerings made by devotees in the ‘Srivari Hundi’, at the newly constructed Parakamani building in Tirumala on Sunday.

The TTD executive officer performed puja and formally commenced the counting process. Speaking to reporters on the occasion, the TTD EO said that the building was constructed on donation by the Bengaluru-based devotee donor Murali Krishna with Rs 23 crore including the setting up of advanced counting machines.

The spacious Parakamani building was inaugurated by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on September 28 last year. After installing the necessary CCTVs and making the necessary infrastructure arrangements, Parakamani activity commenced in the building, the EO added.

Earlier, during the ringing of the first bell in Tirumala temple, the Hundis from the temple were lifted through a slim lift, loaded in a specially designed lorry, and brought to the new building with the blessings of Pedda Jeeyar Swamy of Tirumala in the presence of the TTD EO. Later, Vastu Homam and Gau Puja were performed in the new building before commencing the counting and accounting activities.

Meanwhile, the famous torrent festival of Ramakrishna Theertha Mukkoti was observed in Tirumala on Sunday. Considered one of the most important theerthas among the seven, the Ramakrishna Theertha was believed to be named after Ramakrishna Maharshi, who consecrated the idols of Lord Rama and Lord Krishna here.

The Ramakrishna Theertha is located in the deep woods of the Seshachala ranges, approximately 8.5 kilometres from Tirumala temple. The devotees believe that taking a holy dip in the fresh waters of this torrent on the auspicious day of Magha Purnima will yield them salvation. A team of temple staff reached the Ramakrishna Theertha from Tirumala temple at 9 am and performed a special abhishekam to the deities located here, then returned to the temple.
