HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday held detailed discussions with Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) chairman Manoj Soni and secretary Shashi Ranjan Kumar in Delhi, along with irrigation minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, to revamp the TS Public Service Commission (TSPSC).
The CM sought their suggestions on restructuring the TSPSC on the lines of UPSC and to hold recruitment exams in a foolproof manner.
Revanth Reddy, during his meeting that lasted more than 90 minutes, praised the UPSC for issuing job notifications and completing the recruitment process transparently in a time-bound manner every year.
He enquired about transparency in the UPSC and corruption-free efficient functioning of the UPSC for years. Revanth Reddy said that the Telangana state government wanted to adopt new procedures and methods in the recruitment process through the TSPSC.
The UPSC chairman appreciated the Chief Minister for paying special attention to the job recruitment process. Soni said that the UPSC head and the members were being recruited without political involvement.
The Chief Minister told the UPSC chairman that the state government was planning to fill two lakh vacancies by December 2024 and wanted to reform the TSPSC.
The Chief Minister said that the previous BRS government politicised the appointment of TSPSC chairman and members and the commission has become a centre for political rehabilitation. As a result, question papers were leaked and the process of issuing job notifications, conduct of examinations and publication of results were affected.
Revanth Reddy said that he would carry out the appointment of the TSPSC chairman and members without political interference. He explained that staff will be appointed on a permanent basis without any irregularities.
Manoj Soni offered to train the new TSPSC chairman and members and also the staff in the conduct of exams in a free and fair manner.
Chief Secretary A. Santhi Kumari, CM’s principal secretary V. Sheshadri, special secretary Ajith Reddy and other officials were present at the meeting.
