Panel to look into merger of SCB with GHMC, Congress takes credit

Hyderabad: Welcoming the constitution of a committee for excision of civil areas from the limits of Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) and their merger with GHMC, Khairatabad DCC president C. Rohin Reddy urged the state government to expedite the process.

Speaking to media persons on Thursday, he recalled how PCC chief A. Revanth Reddy had taken up the matter with the Centre. “Revanth Reddy urged Union defence minister Rajnath Singh to consider it favourably and also raised the issue in Parliament by highlighting the problems faced by around four lakh residents. Credit should be given to Congress as its efforts are bearing fruit in this regard,” he said.

The leader said that the BRS government was trying to take credit for the development, but it has always remained indifferent to the sufferings of the people in the area.

“In the letter Rajnath Singh clearly stated that no proposal was received from the State government for the merger of SCB with GHMC, by the time Revanth took up the issue. I urge the State government to ensure the committee submits its report within the stipulated time so that the locals get a sigh of relief, without any further delay,” he added.
