Navy Day celebrated in Hyderabad

The day commemorates Operation Trident launched by the Indian Navy at the Karachi harbour in the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war

Hyderabad: Personnel of the Indian Navy paid tributes to soldiers who died in the line of duty at the Veerula Sainik Smarak war memorial at Parade Ground in Secunderabad on the 51st Navy Day on Sunday.

Rear Admiral V. Rajasekhar, Station Commander (Navy), laid a wreath on behalf of the Indian Navy’s Hyderabad Station while Commodore Sudheer Parakala (retd) laid a wreath on behalf of veterans.

Navy Day is celebrated on December 4 to commemorate Operation Trident, launched by the Indian Navy at the Karachi harbour on the night of December 4-5 in 1971 during the Indo-Pakistan war. In the week running up to the day, blood donation camps, concerts and community outreach programmes were held.
