Explaining how the violators are booked, city police officials said that those caught driving or riding vehicles without masks are given e-challan and those caught walking are issued e-tickets, which can be paid at any mee-seva. “To impose a stricter rule, we introduced e-ticket software to book such violators. Our prime goal is to make sure everyone follows the rule and wears a mask,” official said.
Meanwhile, with cases of the Omicron variant being reported in India, the police across the city have decided to strictly enforce the Rs 1,000 challan rule on violators.
