Kozhikode corporation to sponsor 10,000 students to watch planetarium shows
KOZHIKODE: The Kozhikode municipal corporation will sponsor 10,000 more students from city schools to watch the planetarium shows and attend various science expos, workshops and seminars in association with the Regional Science Centre and Planetarium. The corporation handed over Rs 3 lakh to the science centre as ticket charge for the project. In October also, it had sponsored 10,000 students as part of their education project.
Corporation education standing committee chairman M. Radhakrishnan Master said that the project aimed at creating better science awareness among students. "From September till November, we were able to show the various planetarium facilities to 10,000 students from the government and aided schools under the corporation limit. By March, we will get 10,000 more students to the planetarium," he added.
The first batch of students came as part of the fund earmarked for 2015-16 by the corporation and the second batch is part of the 2016-17 plan fund. The students will be able to watch the planetarium digital show 'From Earth to Universe' and the 3D show 'Fly Me to the Moon.' Though the corporation had also plan to impart expert training to the teachers to deal with the digital classrooms coming up in the city schools, so far nothing has been done.
