Kochi: Peace School text publishers remanded
Kochi: A city court on Saturday remanded the three publishers of the controversial Peace School textbook to police custody till December 9. The city police is planning to question the director of the schools M.M. Akbar who chose the textbooks for the students. The Peace School Foundation purchased the textbooks from Mumbai-based Burooj Realisation and distributed it in the schools run by it.
The arrested are Dawood Vaid the founder of Burooj, Sahil Sayed and Shaik Sameed Ahmed, his employee. Cops are yet to rule out whether the accused and the school management had a deliberate intention to trigger communal hatred among its students. K.Laljy, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ernakulam is heading the probe. Cops slapped section 153(A) for promoting enmity among different groups on the ground of religion against the accused.
