Police Seize Three Old Cars With KCR\'s Pic on Number Plates, Hands Over Cars to EC
Hyderabad: Police seized three cars that Congress activists were using to mock at Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, at Gandhi Bhavan on Saturday. The cards had pictures of the CM on the number plates.
After most of the Congress left the place, Begum Bazaar police personnel seized the vehicles. The police easily overcame resistance from the few party activists left there.
TPCC vice-president Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy criticised the police for acting like “stooges for BRS” and demanded that the vehicles be returned.
Begum Bazaar inspector Namindla Shankar said: “We have seized the vehicles that displayed the Chief Minister’s pictures on the number plates as it violates the model code of conduct and the RTA Act.” The vehicles were handed over to the Election Commission (EC).
Police said the activists failed to produce the relevant documents such as registration certificate and insurance papers. The vehicles did not have engines.
Police are likely to refer the case to the RTA to get details of the vehicle owners, who may be booked.
