Vijayawada: Telugu Desam national general secretary N. Lokesh has alleged that the Andhra Pradesh government is providing medical treatment to patients under the shade of trees at Vijayapuri South community hospital in Macherla, Palnadu district.
In a statement on Saturday, Lokesh called it "unfortunate" that the state government is ignoring healthcare. He asked, "If such a situation is prevailing in the home district of the state health minister, it can be imagined how healthcare is being provided especially in remote areas like Alluri Sitarama Raju district and to the tribal communities from the Nallamala forest."
Lokesh also alleged that during the Covid-19 pandemic, the state witnessed the tragic loss of thousands of innocent lives due to a shortage of oxygen supply.
The TD leader further alleged that essential medical supplies like cotton and surgical gauze cloth are often unavailable even in teaching hospitals like in Kurnool and Anantapur due to financial constraints of the state government.
He asked, "How can the Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy claim that medical and health services are being delivered to people at their doorsteps through programmes like Jagananna Arogya Suraksha when such dire conditions persist in the state?"
