Tough days ahead for new FACT chief A B Khare

Mr. Srivastava is the first accused in the case while the two CGMs the second and third accused.

KOCHI: A.B. Khare, who has been given the additional charge of chairman and managing director of Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Ltd, will have a tough job ahead in steering the company struggling for survival at a time when a top layer of the management personnel of the company have come under the shadow of corruption charges. A chemical engineer from IIT-Roorkee, he started his career in RCF Mumbai in 1980, and was credited with the revamp and capacity enhancement of Thal unit of RCF’s urea and ammonia plants.

He was also a sprcial nominee to the UNIDO programme held in the US in 1990 on simulation, optimisation, advance control and artificial intelligence. A native of Pune, Mr. Khare was appointed as the CMD of Madras Fertilisers Ltd in January 2016. Mr. Khare has been given the additional charge following the Central Bureau of Investigation filing an FIR against the incumbent CMD Jaiveer Srivastva, two chief general managers and two deputy general managers and two private contractors.

Mr. Srivastava is the first accused in the case while the two CGMs the second and third accused. The officers has been accused of selling gypsum at a much lower rate to a private contractors incurring a loss of nearly Rs 8 crore to the company. The CBI conducted countrywide raids on October 22, 23 in connection with the case and seized several documents allegedly having details of irregularities in gypsum sale.
