Providence Women's College students dance to fight corruption
Kozhikode: More than 30 students of Providence Women’s College here visited several prominent colleges in the city on Thursday to present their dance drama, raising slogans against corruption. The dance drama was based on the Central Vigilance Commission’s efforts to promote probity in public life and to achieve a corruption- free society, as part of the week-long Vigilance Awareness campaign.
The students performed to the theme of ‘Public participation in promoting integrity and eradicating Corruption’ as laid down by the Central Vigilance Commission. In the coming days, the performance will also be screened at various other colleges and Government institutions including the Centre for Water Resource Development and Management (CWRDM) and City Corporation.
Speaking about the dance drama, college faculty Dr Sini R said, “The observance of Vigilance Awareness Week renews our commitment to achieve the goals of promoting integrity, transparency and accountability in public life”. The Commission, therefore, laid greater emphasis on public awareness as a more effective and sustainable means of fighting corruption, he said.
“We imparted the mission of the Commission to the students, based on which they have put in their effort to create a strong message against corruption and spread it to the public,” she added. “Creation of greater awareness among the public and their participation in anti-corruption efforts would strengthen the resolve to eliminate corruption from society”, Sini said. The dance drama was performed in colleges including Government Arts and Science College and JDT Islam College of Arts and Science.
