Khammam: Now, app to track eggs supplied to anganwadis

Anganwadi workers will get OTPs, info on the number

Khammam: It is necessary to create an app to keep track of the eggs supplied to anganwadis for the nutritious meal scheme. The state government spends Rs 90 lakh every month on the eggs, but unscrupulous contractors, wardens and other government officials have colluded to make money out of the eggs, thus defrauding the state exchequer.

Beneficiaries of the scheme are pregnant women, children in the age group of 3-6 years and nursing mothers, who require highly nutritious food.

Each egg should weigh 50 grams. About 87,000 eggs are needed for the 1,605 anganwadis in Khammam district.

The app can be downloaded from Google playstore by searching for TSWDCW.
A consolidated indent is prepared to procure and supply eggs/other commodities at the project-level. Then each indent is given an unique number project wise.

As per the indent, the contractor has to supply to the anganwadi centres allotted to him, thrice in a month. The contractor can view the indent info and download it from the portal.

After some more processing of the information, an SMS is sent to all the anganwadi centres’workers with the following details: three unique OTPs, indent number, number of eggs to be supplied each time and expected date of supply.
Once the contractor delivers eggs at the centres as per indent, he/she takes the OTP from the anganwadi worker.

The anganwadi centre helper has to give the OTP pertaining to that supply only.
If the eggs are supplied for the first time in the month, she has to give the first OTP and if it is the second time supply, the second OTP has to be given.

The anganwadi worker has to ensure that the OTP is given only after delivery of the eggs and confirmation of indent number. The app is aimed at checking misuse of eggs supplied to anganwadi centres.

Eggs are packed with nutrients and are considered a superfood. They contain protein, fats, and minerals. Eating an egg daily by mothers of newborn children, pregnant women, and children provides minerals to the body such as selenium, zinc, vitamins like A, D and some B complex.
