Kerala: Anti-goonda squad to be led by SP Prakash
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Mr P. Prakash, Police Training College principal, will head the newly-formed anti-goonda squad. An organised crime intelligence unit has also been constituted under ADGP (Intelligence) R. Sreelekha to gather intelligence on the activities of goonda gangs. According to an official statement from the state police, a sub-inspector will head the anti-goonda squads in each district. The squad will have 10 to 20 members who will be given special training.
While SP Prakash will monitor and coordinate the activities of the squad, State Crime Records Bureau SP will collect information regarding those involved in goonda gangs as well as those supporting them and their modus operandi. IG police headquarters will review the functioning of the squad on a monthly basis and give reports to the state police chief. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had recently announced in the Assembly that special teams to deal with goonda mafias will be formed in the state. Kochi city police has already formed a special squad named ‘City task force.’
