Farmers stage rasta roko for urea supply

Adilabad: A large number of farmers on Tuesday staged a rasta roko on the main road in Jannaram on Tuesday demanding the state government supply urea and threatened to intensify their agitation if the officials failed to supply sufficient fertilizer in time to save their kharif crops.

The protesters said they had failed to spray urea to their standing crops due to lack of sufficient supply of it. Vehicular traffic came to a halt on the road for a while due to the road blockade.

The farmers said they would teach a lesson to the political leaders who visit them for their votes during the elections if they failed to supply sufficient urea in time and resolve the problems they were facing.

The leaders of agitating farmers alleged that the dealers of fertilizers were selling urea on condition of purchasing DAP along with it.

They alleged the dealers were fleecing the farmers by taking advantage of inadequate supply and lack of availability of urea.
