Doctors wear black badges, Harish Rao to meet associations today

HYDERABAD: Even as health minister T. Harish Rao said that his comments on quacks had been distorted, doctors in government hospitals across the state wore black badges to work to protest against the minister’s perceived support for quacks.

He said a statewide drive had been conducted to ban unauthorised practitioners and his comments had been distorted. They threatened to go on strike.

Representatives of the associations were called for a meeting by the chairman of the TSMC and commissioner of Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad (TVVP) upon directions from Harish Rao. At the meeting, the medicos were told that a meeting with the minister would be arranged on Tuesday.
