KPCC member sues Oommen Chandy, Adoor Prakash for Rs 12,000-crore fraud

The court considered the case on Monday and posted for a full hearing on October 14.

Kochi: A KPCC office-bearer on Monday moved Muvattupuzha Vigilance Court against former chief minister Oommen Chandy and others alleging a Rs 12,000 crore fraud on a 300-acre government land in Idukki. The petitioner, Dileep Mathew of Mukkattuthara, has listed former minister Adoor Prakash, former chief secretary Jiji Thomson, Dr Viswas Mehtha, former revenue principal secretary, M. G. Rajamanickam, the special officer for govt land resumption, Idukki collector and two private persons as respondents.

He alleges that the state took over the 6000-acre Kuppakkayam Estate worth Rs 3,000 crore, but some individuals are still enjoying the property. The court considered the case on Monday and posted for a full hearing on October 14. The petitioner alleges that the private persons used the land with bogus title deeds and it was challenged before the Kerala High Court. A vigilance probe also was conducted, but the government turned a blind eye and that some people had cut trees worth '2000 and sold.
