Parties busy in poll retrospection
Kakinada: Team spirit and tactical electioneering seems to have been crucial factors for Telugu Desam in clinching Kakinada Municipal Corporation polls with handsome majority.
Sensing that there was discontentment among voters towards sitting MLA Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao in the city, the party leaders have tactfully confined him to Jagannaickpuram area, while the rest of the divisions were taken care of by the Deputy Chief Minister Nimmakayala Chinnarajappa.
Despite Kapunadu leader Mudragada Padmanabham's gaining popularity, Mr Rajappa managed to secure the Kapu community vote.
Finance minister Y. Ramakrishnudu also played a crucial role and steered the election campaigning by staying in Kakinada.
“The party did not leave anything for chance and made all out efforts to defeat the YSR Congress.
Presence and active participation of civil supplies minister Prathipati Pulla Rao, prohibition and excise minister K. Jawahar, endowment minister Pydikonda Manikyala Rao, BJP MLA N. Vishnukumar Raju had benefitted to a great extent for the party's win,” a senior TD leader said.
He also said that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu used his MLAs and ministers to optimum levels to secure a win in the KMC polls. "There was a huge response for TD in the city. We exhibited good team spirit and with this experience the party will win in the upcoming general elections," Mr Ramakrishnudu said. He said that the party would give no chances to the opposition. Mr Rajappa said that the TD has a disciplined cadre.
