Expunge remarks on CM Pinarayi Vijayan: CPM
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Members of the CPM Parliamentary party will write to Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan urging her to expunge derogatory references made against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and other party leaders by two BJP MPs. M.B. Rajesh, MP, said the disparaging remarks made against the Chief Minister and top leaders of the CPM by BJP leaders could not be justified. “We will urge Speaker to remove the derogatory references from records. BJP MPs had made highly objectionable remarks against people who were not MPs, and not in a position to respond to the allegations,” he said.
“We rarely rush to the Well of the House. Our members resort to such forms of protests only in extraordinary situations. Since the two BJP MPs were allowed to speak on the same subject during Zero Hour and instead of speaking for three to four minutes which is the normal practice, they spoke for 12 to 13 minutes each. This was against Parliamentary conventions,” he said. Mr Rajesh said the CPM parliamentary party has also sought Speaker’s protection for raising issues in House. On Wednesady, BJP MPs Meenakshi Lekhi and Prahlad Joshi had allegedly made objectionable statements against the CM and top party leaders including general secretary Sitaram Yechury, CPM states secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, Kannur district secretary P. Jayarajan and power minister M.M. Mani.
