Bengaluru: Drunk Chinese, husband attack cops
BENGALURU: High drama prevailed at BRV Junction near Manekshaw Parade Ground early Wednesday after a 26-year-old drunken Chinese woman slapped two traffic policemen on duty. She and her Indian husband created ruckus for over 40 minutes and even misbehaved with an ACP.
Police said the situation was brought under control only after a woman police inspector was called up, who managed to take them to Commercial Street police station.
The arrested couple has been identified as Jiaxi, a Chinese national and a teacher by profession and her husband Prashanth, a software professional hailing from Ballari. The couple was living in Shanghai and shifted to the city around four months ago. They were residing in HSR Layout.
According to police, the incident took place around 12.20 am, when Jiaxi and Prashanth were heading home from M G Road in a bike after attending a party. They both were inebriated and as Prashanth took a U-turn, he lost the control and they both fell down.
Two policemen, head constable Fayaz attached to DJ Halli police station and Lingraju, a constable attached to Seshadripuram police station, who happened to be there approached the couple for help. Jiaxi mistook them and slapped Fayaz. The cops recorded the entire act on their mobile phones and informed their higher-ups.
The police said, “She was heavily drunk and not ready to listen to us. She hurled abuses at the policemen who were helping her and even accused them of accepting bribe. Even when a senior police officer Pulikeshinagar ACP Noorulla Shariff tried to convince the woman she was not in a state to listen and also stood up against him. The situation was resolved only after Mary Shailaja, a woman police inspector attached to Gangammanaguddi police station, was called up. She took the couple to Commercial Street law and order police station. The duo was subjected to medical examination,” said a police officer.
The police have registered a case under IPC 332 (Voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), and 504 and have arrested the accused.
